Mark is a past president of The Greater Knoxville Tennis Association (GKTA). GKTA was named the USTA Tennessee 2005 and 2007 Community Tennis Association of the Year! The GKTA is part of the United States Tennis Association (USTA) Tennessee and the USTA Southern Tennis Association.
GKTA volunteers organize tennis leagues, tournaments and learn to play programs for women, men, children and students. GKTA also supports middle school and high school tennis and University of Tennessee men’s and women’s tennis. GKTA works closely with the city of Knoxville department of parks and recreation to sponsor several free lesson programs and the annual Tennis Carnival, a fun, free event open to everyone in our area. GKTA supports umpire and referee training and certification. GKTA generously provides scholarships and grants for local players, teams and schools. Annual grants include money for senior tennis lesson programs, racquets for needy students, tournament and event sponsorships. GKTA is currently working with the city of Knoxville on a capital funds campaign to enlarge and modernize the city’s tennis facility at West Hills Park.
GKTA serves thousands of players of all ages. The Greater Knoxville Tennis Association intends to lead the way toward the growth of tennis in our city, in our state and in the South. Come join us! GKTA is working to promote tennis for everyone in the Knoxville area.
